Transformative Art

Arte Aqua Viva began its work impacting and transforming communities with the power of art and theater back in 2007, when it  was first called Teatro Esperanza, and then quickly changed to Arte Aqua Viva to ensure all art forms were celebrated in 2009. Since then, beautiful transformations have been taking place. From the rural central valley’s park stages, to museums in Fresno, performing arts centers in Santa Cruz, classrooms, and now the Bay Area, Arte Aqua Viva continues on a mission to transform this world with creative expression.

Theatre. It is a living, breathing art that has withstood the test of time and continues to grow, evolving and changing to tell the stories our world needs to hear. Theatre has changed my life. Theatre has pushed me to sing songs of sadness in a time where I wanted to close myself to world. It’s taught me to express my pain because the first step to healing is owning your emotions and owning your despair. Only then can you rise out of the shadows, stronger than ever, ready to take on the world through music, dance, acting, lights, sets, the components that comprise this beloved art. With every play, musical, or show I’ve had the pleasure of being part of, I’ve fallen in love with the people that celebrate this art as much as I do and fallen in love with theatre. I never believed that an art form could hold such power, and you may not too. But when you give your body and heart as a vessel to theatre, you are rejuvenated anew. Celebrate, for theatre is here for us when people aren’t. Celebrate, for we will be healed. Celebrate, for where there is light there is love, and love is strong.

"Throughout my whole life I grew up being a very shy and introverted person. I did have moments where I could embrace who I really was but it did not give me the proper push I needed to fully change myself. The change that I needed to make for myself all began in my sophomore year of high school. I took a drama class at that time, in the hopes that it would help me express myself and do much more. The moment I stepped into that classroom was the day my whole life changed and shifted into a new direction for Theatre. From being an actor of my first musical to directing my first production, I realized that Theatre has developed me into the person that I need to be now in my life. Theatre not only showed me the ways to express myself freely and share that same passion with others, it taught me how I can apply change into my own life. What you learn and experience through Theatre will always put you on a brighter path. From the darkest struggles and doubts there will be achievements and dreams lifted into the light as long as you are willing to commit to reaching them. I will always be grateful to all of my cast mates, family, friends, and mentor for teaching me the greatest value of all from my journey of Theatre. One mission: How to uplift the world? The solution: Always Uplift for Change.”
